While the care for a natural plant may be obvious – plenty of water and lots of sunlight – care for a fake plant can be a bit more up in the air. Though they require a lot less maintenance, there are still a few things to do that can extend the lifespan of your artificial trees and plants, while ensuring that they look brand new for years to come. Like anything in your home, your new fake houseplants are likely to collect dust. Over time, and left unchecked, dust can cause your plant to look dull and old, which is far from the lifelike look you want it to have.
Cleaning your artificial plants
When you take your plant home, we suggest that the first thing you do is spray it with an artificial plant cleaner. In spraying it, you will repel most dust particles that tend to stick to the faux foliage. After the original spray, it’s best to pass over your plant with a hairdryer to dislodge any dust that may be on the leaves or the plant itself, then give it another quick spray to continue to repel dust, and also give it some extra shine, making it look as great as the day that you bought it.
If you don’t spray the plant, you’ll regularly have to wipe down each leaf with a damp cloth to clean off the dust. As you can imagine, this is a very time-consuming task, which is why we suggest the spray cleaner for your artificial plants, as it will keep your new decorative plants as maintenance-free as possible.
The spray can also be used for arrangements and bouquets of artificial flowers. It will repel dust from sticking to hard to clean folds, and keep the colors looking bright and new.
If, for any reason, your plants haven’t received the adequate care and have become very dusty, you can always clean them with warm soapy water, but be sure to avoid any cleaning products that aren’t made for artificial plants as they may damage your plant.
Protecting your plants from discoloration
Artificial plants obviously don’t need any sunlight to stay beautiful, however, if you’re placing them near a window where they will get sun, your plant and its faux foliage could get discolored. If this is the case in your home, you can spray your indoor fake plants with a sunblock spray for plants and flowers that will prevent the discoloration of your plants. You’ll only need to spray your plant seasonally to ensure it keeps its original, gorgeous color.
The spray is also great to use for any artificial flowers that you have in your home! Keeping the original color of an artificial flower is important as that is what’s going to make it look most natural! It can also be used for any and all outdoor cusions that are part of your patio furniture.
Within our selection of artificial plants, trees and flowers, we have an outdoor collection that is already UV resistant. Select items come with a two-year UV discoloration warranty so you can enjoy the beauty of your artificial plants for longer. For any plants, flowers or arrangements that will be spending most of the day in direct sunlight, we always suggest a coat of UV spray once a season to help further protect your artificial outdoor plants.
If you’re going to invest in a high-quality artificial plant, it’s definitely ideal to keep them clean and protected as that’s the best way to make your fake plants look real!
Store them for winter
In winter, don’t forget to bring your artificial plants and privacy screens inside the house. In order to protect them from the weather of winter season, it is therefore essential to store them in a covered area.
